Job Title: Development and Communications Coordinator

Work Schedule:5 days, 40 hours/week (includes some weekends and evenings)

SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Development and Communications Coordinator will play a vital role increasing the Forest Park Conservancy’s visibility and fundraising capacity. The ideal candidate enjoys fundraising and community outreach and is energetic, outgoing, and likes to be involved in a range of activities from community engagement to office work. This new position at FPC provides opportunities to learn new skills and expand responsibilities over time.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

All Trails Challenge Walk-a-thon | 15% Time

Overall coordination of FPC’s annual walk-a-thon

●Organize kick off and celebration parties

●Manage All Trails Challenge online

●Recruit, support and inspire challengers

Community Outreach | 15% Time

●Develop tabling schedule, recruit and train volunteers to represent FPC at community events and staff information tables when necessary

●Identify speaking opportunities and recruit appropriate speaker

●Manage data gathered at events

Nature Discovery Hikes| 20% Time

●Expand diversity of and support for volunteer hike leaders

●Increase number and variety of hike topics in Forest Park

●Increase turnout to hikes and future engagement of hike participants

●Develop support materials for hike leaders

Communications, Fundraising and Administrative Support| 30% Time

●Create online content and increase engagement on social media

●Update website as needed

●Support the year end fundraising campaign

●Design simple flyers

●Collect and manage FPC photo library

●Data entry, as needed, during busy fundraising times

FPC Store| 10% Time

●Coordinate sales of FPC merchandise online

●Identify new outside stores to sell FPC maps

●Increase sales of all FPC merchandise

Other duties as needed| 10% Time

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience organizing events, fundraising, and coordinating outreach activities 
  • Friendly and outgoing personality
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Adobe Suite, including Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, Photoshop, Publisher)
  • Ability to work in a team and independently
  • Ability to walk at least 3 miles on uneven terrain
  • Valid driver’s license

PREFERRED

  • Some knowledge of trail/restoration work, natural history or outdoor recreation
  • Experience entering data
  • Bike or car ownership

SALARY AND BENEFITS

$36,000 - $40,000/year plus medical, vacation and retirement benefits.
